Healthcare Providers are the gatekeepers to patient access for cancer trials. Eight of ten patients who enroll in a cancer trial, do so because of a Healthcare Provider recommendation.
However, as a healthcare provider, my experience today searching for a clinical trial for my patients can often feel like searching for a flight without knowing if there are seats on the plane. It can be a frustrating and time-consuming process, and frankly, a complete waste of time.
This is largely due to a lack of centralized, real-time visibility regarding slot availability and trial site enrollment status. As a result, many Healthcare Providers in non-research capable clinics simply refer patients to an external healthcare facility to be evaluated for any potential trial available at that site, which inadvertently places the burdens of time, cost, and travel on patients with cancer.
We have previously published our research that shows patients from lower income areas travel significantly longer distances compared to patients from higher income areas in order to participate in cancer clinical trials. The majority of trial-related travel support for patients is available only after extensive eligibility screening procedures, follow-up appointments, and successful enrollment. Therefore, patients of lower socioeconomic status are forced to absorb the costs associated with travel prior to trial participation, a factor that contributes to sociodemographic inequities among trial participants today.
Our team at Trial Library recognized a critical need to support Healthcare Providers in their quest to offer the highest quality of care, while also reducing the burden placed on patients. That is why we launched our evidence-based oncology trial decision support platform.
Our comprehensive software supports the majority of oncology trials activated in the United States through a guided search experience, designed to be feasible at the point of care. Additionally, we have integrated our platform with services that address the most common pain points, such as verification of slot availability and connecting local treating providers with the trial site Principal Investigator to answer trial-related questions. We are connecting the dots in the clinical trial ecosystem through technology and integrated services to empower Healthcare Providers and help expand patient access to oncology trials.
Our centralized Trial Search platform generates insights regarding Healthcare Provider needs. We have published experience demonstrating the impact of a centralized Trial Search on Healthcare Provider satisfaction, as well as the detailed insights regarding patients served including clinical attributes such as extent of disease, histology, genomics, and prior treatments received.
We see tremendous potential for fundamentally shifting how Healthcare Providers and patients engage in clinical trials. Our platform represents this paradigm shift—a transformation that's here to stay and poised to reshape the landscape of cancer care for years to come. Check out our platform today which is expanding access to oncology trials, so no patient misses out on potentially life-saving opportunities.
